Tom Healy is a writer and educator. From 2009-2014, he served under President Barack Obama as chairman of the Fulbright Scholarship Board, a presidential appointment at the U.S. Department of State.

As Fulbright chairman, Tom traveled to more than 30 countries to foster peacemaking through the international exchange of art and ideas and led a major transformation of the U.S. government's largest public diplomacy program. Fulbright was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for International Peace and Understanding from the King of Spain under Tom's leadership and he was personally awarded the Fulbright Medal from the University of Arkansas.

Tom has written three books of poetry and a forthcoming collection of essays on international education, culture and citizen diplomacy. He currently serves as Advisor for Global Programs at the Brooklyn Museum and leads the Museum's public conversation series on art and current events.

Tom is a trustee of the International Refugee Assistance Project, University of the People, and PEN, the international writers organization. He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He lives in New York and Miami.
